The First Few Months

Starting a new business is definitely hard work. Adding to the learning curve is the increased pressure from your need to earn money from this venture. The key is to stay motivated!

Ups and Downs

The first few months are usually the bumpiest. This is where your resolve will be tested. Expect to hit a few walls and be prepared to find solutions. Success is not in having everything work perfectly for you. Success is in your attitude of dealing with the failures that happen along the way. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, pick up your positive attitude that fell down on the ground next to you, and head off to tackle the next stage. And with the right attitude, you will!

Your Agenda

While it is really important to have measurable objectives and to be positive in your expectation of them, it is equally important not to pressure or push yourself to achieve them. Sound contradictory? It's not. Often the greatest pressure we find ourselves under is that which we put on ourselves. It is important to know what you want but you must be prepared to adapt along the way in order to achieve it. Stay focused on your health and your quality time with your children. Those are the most important things and everything else will fall into place in due course.

Celebrate Every Little Step

In the first few months of launching your new business, even the little steps are big ones. It is important to stop and recognise all the little wins and give yourself a pat on the back. Remember, it takes courage to do what you are doing so take time out to celebrate yourself.
