Your Kids 15-Minute Living Tips

Take Some Happy Snaps

Do something fun with your kids and when they’re happy, take a photo of all of you together. Put your camera on self- timer or ask a stranger to take the photo. Then print out a copy and stick it on the refrigerator or somewhere prominent in your home. Every time you and your children see it, they will remember the good times and know that life can move forward.

Get Outside for an Extra Dose of Happy Hormones

Fun exercise is all it takes!

Go for a walk, get the kids to put on their rollerblades or get on your bikes. Exercising with your kids is a great way to raise your happy hormones, serotonin and endorphins.

Try getting out three times a week; a combination of exercise, sunshine and spending quality time with your kids will make you... and them feel so much better!

Have a Hug and a Chat

All children need to be listened to, loved and held.

Take the time to sit down with them and ask them how they are feeling. Ask them what questions they have about your situation at the moment.

By taking the time  to listen to them and by answering their questions honestly, you are reinforcing to them that they matter and that you love them. Sealing that conversation with a long hug is very reassuring for them and for you and will help you all move forward, together.

Listen To Music Together Or Dance

Music is a window to the soul…

If your children are younger, choose their favorite music, sing and dance together in the lounge room! Dancing is a fabulous way to free your spirit and get those endorphins and happy hormones pumping again. It's also a great way to bond with your children.

If your children are older, connect with them by asking them to play you their favorite music or show you on YouTube. As music usually reflects our mood state, knowing the music your children are listening to is usually a good guide into understanding their current emotional state. Knowing where they are at, will allow you to support them better.
