Christmas Hope

You know what makes each of us different from other single mothers around the world? Absolutely nothing. After interviewing single mums in England, Scotland and Australia, I can see there is so much that binds us and merely a few accents and weather that parts us. We are all bound by the same pain and learning and we all have the same potential for a future worth creating,

 Christmas is a time to remember what is important in life. We all have reasons to be grateful for the past year no matter what it held. We have our children and we have the possibilities of making the next year better than the one we have just lived. Potential offers us all hope and that is fundamentally what keeps us moving forward: Hope.

 I want to thank each of you for making this the year of Mothers Moving Forward. I really wanted to create a platform where you can feel connected and know that you are not alone. I assure you, you are not. There are millions of single mothers in this world and despite our very hard lessons, we continue each day to strive forward. You will too.

 Trust in yourself that you can do it. There are plenty who didn’t think they could and yet, in hindsight, they know they are now in a far better place than they were before. It just takes time, patience and trust.  Being a single mum isn’t as horrible as it sounds. It can be very empowering and uplifting as your inner strength emerges.

 To all of you, my deepest thanks. Each of you provide a platform to another and slowly, together, we will build a wonderful bridge that will help each of us climb to greater heights and a better life.

 May you all remember what gifts lie in your home each night and may you all have a wonderful Christmas.
